Si \u00e8 tenuto il 19 giugno 2025 l\u2019evento \u201cEU Integration in the Western Balkans \u2013 opportunities and challenges\u201d introdotto e moderato dalla Vice Capo Missione, Laura Calligaro, nei saloni dell\u2019Ambasciata italiana a Praga.<\/p>\n
La riunione ha affrontato il tema dell\u2019allargamento delle frontiere dell\u2019Unione Europea alla penisola balcanica occidentale, soffermandosi in particolar modo sul ruolo del gruppo \u201cAmici dei Balcani Occidentali\u201d e sull\u2019importanza della cooperazione regionale, nonch\u00e9 sulle opportunit\u00e0 di coinvolgimento economico nella regione.<\/p>\n
Alla luce delle trasformazioni in corso nello scenario europeo ed internazionale, l\u2019iniziativa ha costituito una preziosa occasione di approfondimento delle sfide e delle opportunit\u00e0 connesse all\u2019allargamento sotto il profilo economico, politico e geopolitico.<\/p>\n
L\u2019integrazione dei Balcani Occidentali rappresenta, oltre che un impegno condiviso tra l\u2019Italia e la Repubblica Ceca, una priorit\u00e0 strategica per la stabilit\u00e0 e la sicurezza dell\u2019Europa. Per questa ragione numerosi sono stati i rappresentanti istituzionali, gli esperti e gli \u201cstakeholders\u201d che hanno presenziato all\u2019incontro.<\/p>\n
La discussione ha giovato degli stimati contributi di Pavl\u00edna \u017d\u00e1kov\u00e1, Vice-Ministra agli Affari Europei, dell\u2019Amb. Edita Hrd\u00e1, rappresentante del Ministero degli Affari Esteri ceco e \u2013 da remoto \u2013 del Dott. Giorgio Fruscione, Research Fellow presso Dopo una sessione di Q&A, \u00e8 stata la vice-rappresentante della Commissione Europea a Praga, Eva Horelov\u00e1, a concludere l\u2019evento.<\/p>\n

The Enlargement of the European Union in the Western Balkans: Opportunities and Challenges<\/strong> The event \u201cEU Integration in the Western Balkans \u2013 opportunities and challenges\u201d<\/em> took place on 19 June 2025 at the Italian Embassy in Prague. It was introduced and moderated by the Deputy Head of Mission, Laura Calligaro.<\/p>\n The meeting focused on the topic of EU enlargement towards the Western Balkan, with particular attention to the role of the \u201cFriends of the Western Balkans\u201d<\/em> group and the importance of regional cooperation, as well as the economic engagement opportunities in the region.<\/p>\n In light of the ongoing transformations in the European and international landscape, the initiative provided a valuable opportunity to explore the economic, political, and geopolitical challenges and opportunities linked to enlargement.<\/p>\n The integration of the Western Balkans is not only a shared commitment between Italy and the Czech Republic, but also a strategic priority for the stability and security of Europe. For this reason, the event was attended by numerous institutional representatives, experts, think tanks and stakeholders.<\/p>\n The discussion benefited from the valuable contributions of Pavl\u00edna \u017d\u00e1kov\u00e1, Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Ambassador Edita Hrd\u00e1, representative of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and \u2013 remotely \u2013 Dr. Giorgio Fruscione, Research Fellow at ISPI.
