Economic diplomacy is one of the pillars of Italian foreign policy and consists of the activity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation aimed at supporting Italian companies abroad and promoting the growth of the country in different areas. Coordinated by the Directorate General for the Promotion of the “Sistema Italia” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – which in turn is in constant contact with institutions, bodies, associations, companies, research centers and universities – the over 450 offices spread throughout the world including embassies, consulates, units of the ICE Agency and ENIT, today integrated into diplomatic and consular representations, Italian Cultural Institutes, Offices of Scientific and Technological Attachés, are committed to promoting Italy in its economic, cultural and scientific components in an integrated perspective.
The strategic objectives that inspire economic diplomacy on a daily basis are:
– supporting companies in the commercial penetration of emerging markets and in consolidating themselves in traditional ones;
– supporting the international activity of territorial autonomies;
– attract productive investments, tourist flows and talents to Italy;
– promote Italian investments abroad.
