On April 4th, the Italian Embassy in Prague hosted a meeting with young participants of the Prague Student Summit, a one-year educational project organized by the Association for International Affairs (AMO). This multidisciplinary initiative, involving around 300 university and high school students from across the Czech Republic, aims to deepen understanding in various fields including international affairs, human rights, economics, and global security.
AMO, a non-profit organization founded in 1997, coordinates the event, promoting research and education in international relations. Divided into three pillars – education, international projects, and research – AMO fosters interactions among academics, policymakers, and NGOs.
The Summit, supported by President Pavel, employs simulations of international organizations’ activities, with each participant representing a country and proposing solutions to global challenges. Notable endorsements included former Czech President Václav Havel and former secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
The 29th edition’s opening ceremony, happening in the afternoon, will commemorate the Czech Republic’s 20th EU accession and 25th NATO membership anniversaries. A discussion with US Ambassador Bijan Sabet and Minister for European Affairs Martin Dvořák will explore transforming international institutions amid growing protectionism.
