On September 24, 2025, the Embassy of Italy in Prague hosted the second edition of the Italian Sports Day in the World, an initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Sport, and the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) to highlight sport as a tool for international dialogue, with a focus on the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics and the Naples Half Marathon in 2026. The event, organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce, UniCredit, and Colmar, was introduced by a speech from Ambassador Mauro Marsili, who emphasized Italy’s prominent role in global sports and the importance of values such as respect, integration and international cooperation.

The evening, moderated by Deputy Head of Mission Laura Calligaro, featured three guest speakers: Luca Bormolini, coach of the Czech national biathlon team, shared the warm hospitality he received from Czechia and the importance of cultural exchange; Kateřina Neumannová, cross-country skiing champion, spoke of her strong connection to Italy and described the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics as a major opportunity to inspire young people; Carlo Capalbo, founder of RunCzech, promoted the 2026 Naples Half Marathon as an event capable of bringing together different cultures and showcasing the city. The evening concluded with a networking cocktail aimed at fostering new connections and collaborations.
